The thermodynamic properties of the parabolic-well fluid are considered. intermolecular interaction potential this model, which belongs to class so-called van Hove potentials, shares with square-well and triangular well potentials inclusion a hard-core an attractive relatively short range. analytic second virial coefficient for is computed explicitly equation state derived aid second-order perturbation theory in macroscopic compressibility approximation taking hard-sphere as reference system. For latter, fully analytical expression radial distribution function, consistent Carnahan-Starling within rational function method, employed. results reduced pressure packing fraction two values range at different temperatures compared Monte Carlo Event‐driven molecular dynamics simulation data. Estimates critical temperature also provided.
